Mobilize Montgomery is a collaboration between state and local government, nonprofits, and chambers of commerce in Montgomery County, Maryland. Launched in March 2025, the initiative connects employers, contractors, and residents impacted by the federal budget cuts to critical resources - from financial assistance, workforce programs to business continuity support. Together we help families and businesses navigate challenges and thrive during times of economic uncertainty.

The Mobilize Montgomery initiative brings together key organizations in Montgomery County, Maryland, including:

Montgomery County, Maryland
Is the largest county in the State of Maryland with over 1.1 million residents. Bordering the District of Columbia, and directly across the Potomac River from Northern Virginia, Montgomery County is home to 18 federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as well as the headquarters to over 700 companies. The county offers a unique ecosystem rich in talent, groundbreaking discoveries, and a vibrant community dedicated to sustainability and bold thinking. With 40% of residents speaking a language other than English and a third of the population born outside the U.S., Montgomery County embraces diversity. This inclusive environment fosters a rich tapestry of perspectives, providing an ideal location for businesses to thrive, innovate and flourish.

Maryland Department of Labor 
The mission of the Maryland Department of Labor is to connect Marylanders to good jobs; protect workers, consumers, and the public; support Maryland businesses; and foster economic growth and competitiveness.

WorkSource Montgomery (WSM)
Is the fiduciary agent for Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding and the Workforce Development Board in Montgomery County. The organization operates the American Job Centers in Wheaton and Germantown and provides employment and training services to Montgomery County residents who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking new employment. WSM also engages local businesses from various industries to ensure their current and future workforce needs are met.

Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC)
Is the official public-private economic development organization representing Montgomery County, Maryland, and is funded by Montgomery County. Its mission is to accelerate business development, attraction, retention and expansion in key industry sectors while advancing equitable and inclusive economic growth. MCEDC connects businesses to top talent, partnerships, resources and prime locations for success.

The City of Gaithersburg’s Office of Economic Development
Provides business retention, expansion and attraction services, including assistance with real estate searches, City regulations, and business incentives. Goals of the office are focused on the fundamental elements necessary for a thriving local economy – a business-ready location, with employment opportunities for residents of all abilities and backgrounds.

The City of Rockville
Is regarded as one of America’s leading small cities for work, for play and for life. It is the vibrant, highly educated, business-friendly home to some of the nation’s and the world’s most prominent biomed and technology companies and is adjacent to the world’s most powerful city, Washington, D.C.

Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI)
Is a public-private partnership that helps businesses launch, locate, and expand in the City of Rockville, Maryland. Committed to economic development, REDI is proactive in its efforts to support existing industry and attract new businesses with tools to get started in Rockville, and resources and guidance to existing businesses in the city.

Maryland Women’s Business Center (MWBC)
Is a signature program of Rockville Economic Development, Inc. MWBC helps entrepreneurs and small businesses owners across Maryland’s Capital Region start, sustain, and grow their companies. Through workshops, individual counseling, facilitated peer group support, special resources, and access to capital, MWBC annually helps over 1,500 entrepreneurs gain the skills, connections, and confidence necessary to navigate entrepreneurship.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
HCCMC provides a forum for matters affecting Hispanics in business. We advocate on behalf of the organization’s membership to achieve economic, educational, and social equality under the law, ensuring a positive and inclusive public image of Hispanic-owned business.

The Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce
Founded in 1993, the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce is a vibrant, independent nonprofit organization of dynamic business leaders committed to the economic prosperity and civic well-being of the
greater Silver Spring, Maryland community. The Chamber is home to member organizations ranging in size from sole proprietorships to international companies with thousands of employees and includes real estate management and development firms, cutting-edge bio-technology firms, information technology companies, restaurants, hotels, world-renowned entertainment companies, and others.

Olney Chamber of Commerce
The Olney Chamber of Commerce has the following objectives:

  • To promote the interest of the business community through public wareness campaigns.

  • To enhance economic development by supporting existing commercial enterprises and encouraging new business endeavors.

The Universities at Shady Grove
Established in 2000, The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is built on the power of partnership — bringing select degree programs from nine public Maryland universities to one convenient campus in Rockville, MD.
Students apply directly to one of our nine partner universities that offer their desired major and select USG as their preferred campus location on the application. Through our partnerships, students receive a high-quality
education from their chosen university, which provides both the professors and the curriculum. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded a degree by their chosen university.
